OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2011. For the first time ZiO-Podilsk Engineering Plant (a branch of Atomenergomash GK) has produced a buffer sodium tank for Beloyarsk NPP fourth power unit with BN-reactor under construction.

Buffer sodium tank, the weight of which is equal to more than 50 tones, length – 16.5 and the diameter -2.5 tones, is an important part of a steam generator. Totally, the reactor plant includes three steam generators, each including 20 modules of evaporators and steam superheaters, binding pipes and bearing metal structures. A buffer tank is a complex structure with multiple nozzles and also internals comprising a heat shield, protecting the tank vessel at a sharp change of sodium temperature, and a coolant collector preventing the appearance of gas trumpets and gas capture into the lateral pipeline.

ZiO-Podolsk Engineering Plant has produced such a piece of work of Gidropress OKB OJSC construction development for the first time.
