OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2011. With the "Golden Bull Award" unveiled at the China Financial Summit Forum 2011 of the 14th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC), Bank of China was granted "2011 Green Banking Innovation Award" for its outstanding achievements in green banking, reported the press-centre of Bank of China.

In recent years, Bank of China has played an important role as a financial institution in the economic restructuring and has made significant achievements in supporting the industries of clean energy, energy conservation and environmental protection in the promotion of green banking. In May 2010, it released the Guidelines on Credit Issuance in Support of Projects of Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction, the first of its kind in the industry, to implement a differentiated credit policy in favor of projects with increased energy conservation and reduced emission to promote the development of green industries.

Meanwhile, Bank of China has launched a series of green financial products to drive and help its business partners to meet the requirements on reduction of carbon emission. Through cooperation with the society, Bank of China has achieved a rapid growth in the size of green banking service. As of the end of 2010, the balance of green credit issued by Bank of China exceeded RMB 190 billion with the new issuance in the year up to more than RMB 40 billion, posting a growth rate of 27.8%. With the continuous decrease of the percentage of the industries of "two highs, one capital" in its total credit structure, Bank of China has made a significant contribution to the development of clean energies, energy conservation and emission reduction.
Sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Council for The Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), State Intellectual Property Office and Beijing Municipal Government and organized by CCPIT Beijing Office, the annual CHITEC event is widely influential in the high-tech and investment industries.
