OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2011. Two steam turbine units produced by Kaluga Turbine Works (a branch of Power Machines Concern) for Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, the world’s first floating nuclear power plant, have been shipped to Baltiysky Zavod OJSC.

The steam turbine units (STUs) were transported by water from Kaluga to St. Petersburg’s Baltiysky Zavod, where the FNPP power unit is being constructed. Akademik Lomonosov’s power unit platform was produced at Baltiysky Zavod and launched in June 2010.

The STUs were dispatched from Kaluga Turbine Works in autumn 2010; during the winter period the machinery was sheltered in a custom-built storage area in Serpukhov, Moscow Region; this  April it resumed its route towards St. Petersburg.

Kaluga Turbine Works designed and produced two modular-type steam turbine units of 35 MW each intended for FNPP power unit. Power Machines OJSC made STU generators and delivered these to Kaluga Turbine Works. The equipment customer is Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC.
