OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2011. State Committee of the Republic of Karelia for Youth, Physical Training, Sports and Tourism jointly with the State Authority Department of Northern Finland, the State Committee of the Republic of Karelia for Life Support and Public Safety, the search and rescue service of Karelia have held international manoeuvres concerning security in tourism (sea rescue).

Theoretical and practical exercises of using rescue equipment and consideration of safety plans and instructions took place on June 7 in Petrozavodsk. The first Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the RK for Youth, Physical Training, Sports and Tourism Republic of Karelia Evgeny Shorokhov opened the seminar. Representatives of search and rescue teams of the Republic of Karelia and Finland made their reports.

Sea rescue training exercises were held on June 8 on Shuya river with participation of Karelian tour operators offering activity vacation tours. The Finnish colleagues have presented the new resque equipment and exchanged experience with their Russian colleagues.
