OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2011. The base of international experts, which could give an objective estimation of stress-tests on NPPs safety, is also necessary to be created, the Head of Rosatom Sergey Kirienko stated on Wednesday.

He appeared at the plenary session of Atomexpo-2011 Moscow International Forum. According to his words, “the first stage of the stress-tests of the NPPs existing and constructed, the aim of which is the achievement of NPPs absolute safety in the conditions of all natural anomalies”.

Kirienko expressed himself for the “organization of the pool of international experts, which could give an objective estimation of the tests’ results. “Russia is ready to afford its sites for the work of such a pool and for tests conduction”, — Kirienko underlined, having noted the Russia’s readiness “to give its specialists for the work in the tests of the kind in other countries”. The Head of Rosatom suggested the three stages of the Nuclear Society’s activities after the events at the Japanese NPP Fukushima-1. The first one is the inspection of the reliability of the NPPs operating and constructed, which is already in progress. The second one is the change of the international legislation with the developing of international standards for obligatory application in the countries possessing the nuclear power branch and especially for the countries, which start using nuclear power. And the forced work for the purposes of receiving new technologies for the future nuclear power industry is to be third one.

“From the technologies that demand human participation in NPPs operation we should pass over to the technologies of automation control and management over nuclear plants processes”, — Kirienko said, having underlined that “all these tasks are not for a single state, but for all wishing to develop the nuclear power industry”.

Rosatom planned to present the proposals on all the three stages of the development of the world nuclear power branch at a special IAEA session, which was to take place in Vienna 10 days later, Kirienko reported.
