OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2011. Power Machines OJSC and the General Contractor for the turn key construction project for a hydro power plant, Argentina's UTE Consortium, have signed a contract to supply hydro engineering equipment for the construction of Punta Negra HPP.

According to the terms and conditions of the contract, Power Machines is to manufacture and supply two 32 MW hydro turbines to Argentinian power engineers, including pre-turbine gate valves and governing equipment as well as two generators completed with excitation systems.

The first stage of equipment shipment, embedded turbine parts, is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012 and the last stage specifying shipment of the rest of the equipment for the first quarter of 2013. The commissioning of Punta Negra HPP is expected at the end of 2015.

Participation in constructing the Argentinian hydro power plant is a continuation of Power Machines OJSC's successful activity in the Latin American energy market. Two new HPPs were launched with equipment manufactured by Power Machines, Los Caracoles HPP in Argentina and La Higuera HPP in Chile last year. For the Argentinian power plant, Power Machines has designed and manufactured two hydro sets with a capacity of 60.78 MW each completed with hydromechanical auxiliary equipment. The Russian power engineering company has manufactured and supplied two hydrogenerators with a capacity of 77.5 MW each completed with excitation systems for the hydro power plant in Chile.

Earlier, in 2008–2009, Power Machines manufactured and supplied two 41 MW capacity hydro generators for the San Juan hydro power plant in Brazil.

Power Machines is presently taking part in the construction of La Yesca HPP in Mexico, for which the company has manufactured and supplied two hydroturbines and two generators with a capacity of 375 MW. Works on installation of the equipment supplied by Power Machines are under way at the power plant.
