OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2011. Belarus is short of some 670 billion Belarusian rubles (Br) to buy fuel for harvesting this year, Deputy Agriculture Minister Leonid Marinich told reporters.

“We need 2.2 trillion rubles to buy fuel in June-September, and we are looking for 670 billion,” he said, adding that the ministry was discussing the matter with the Finance Ministry.

Marinich also said there were difficulties with the acquisition of spare parts for foreign machinery. “We operate over 1,000 foreign machines, and our foreign partners behave in accordance with market rules, but we cannot afford to pay prices that are 250%-300%-700% higher than before,” he said.
