OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2011. Rosatom General Director Sergey Kiriyenko reported it when appearing at the Ministerial Conference of IAEA, dedicated to the events at Fukushima-1 NPP.

He reminded that the stress-tests of all the existing NPPs had already been held in the Russian Federation and that in the middle of April a corporate review of the World Association of Nuclear Operators had been held in the country.

“Now we are proposing to all the interested countries and profile international organization to improve and harmonize the stress-tests methods and criteria. We also suggest their conduction selectively and crosswise and exchange the results”, he said.

The European Union did not possess comprehensive information concerning the state of matters at the hazardous Japanese Fukushima-1 NPP and according to the appearance of important facts the EU could correct the NPPs’ stress tests carried out in the district, as Minister of the National Development of Hungary Tomash Fellegi stated on the results of the Summit of the Ministers of Energy of EU countries.

The decision to perform additional and more complicated estimations of the EU plants’ safety, compared wit the scheduled ones, was taken in connection with the accident at Fukushima-1 NPP in Japan after the earthquake and tsunami of March 11.
