OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2011. In the summer months, the campaign activities focus on “electrical safety education” for kids in the summer recreational camps. By holding special lessons in a role-play game format, the power engineers explain the hazards of electricity and teach the children how to use electricity safely by providing easy-to-understand basic electricity safety rules. A theatrical performance “His Majesty Electricity” was held in Zarya summer children camp.

The main character, Megavolt, decides to take control of the world. Another fictitious character, Light Bulbie Girl, and a schoolgirl oppose to his efforts to conquer the world. The kids enthusiastically answered the quiz questions and participated in contest games. Besides, the kids had an opportunity to drill their electricity safety skills. Now the kids are well aware of the dangers related to substations, electric power lines, etc. They learned the emergency telephone numbers they should use if they notice a broken wire or a person injured by electric current.

According to Dmitry Lipin, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Orenburg city electrical grids, the Company’s activities aimed at preventing electrical accidents with children are held on a regular basis, and the role-play game format is the most effective and easy-to-understand way to focus the kid’s attention on the importance of electrical safety.

The activities scheduled for the nearest future include similar campaigns to be held over the entire catchment area of Orenburgenergo. The power engineers have prepared a schedule of their visits to children summer recreation camps during summer holidays. When the new school year starts, the specialists of Orenburgenergo will visit school lessons of Basic Safety.
