OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2011. Following Ukrainian-Mongolian bilateral talks President Viktor Yanukovych and President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj made statements for the media.

In his statement President Yanukovych said:

"Given the mutual constructive eagerness to significantly expand cooperation, we exchanged views on the current state and prospects of Ukrainian-Mongolian relations and discussed several topical issues of international agenda. In particular we have concretized the available possibilities of bilateral cooperation and ways for its further development.

Serious attention was dedicated to the need to increase positive dynamics of the highest and high level dialogue, which in our common belief is a powerful stimulus for the development of interstate relations.

Mr. President and I share the belief that it is necessary to fully use the significant, but still untapped potential of bilateral cooperation in economic, scientific and other areas.

We also agreed that primary issue on the agenda of Ukrainian-Mongolian relations is strengthening cooperation in industry, agriculture and science.

Mr. President and I signed a joint declaration on the development of partnership relations between our countries, which reflects the agreements reached on further development of multifaceted bilateral cooperation and reaffirms our positions on the most pressing international issues.

Actual evidence of Ukraine and Mongolia’s readiness to cooperation is the conclusion of a number of important bilateral documents – intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements.

Among them, in particular, the documents on cooperation in emergency prevention and response, cooperation in the area of culture and education, optimization of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Mongolian Commission on Trade-economic and Scientific-technical Cooperation.

I would like to note that in the course of exchange of views with Mr. President on the most urgent and sensitive global issues, such as counteracting to the acute challenges of our time, similarity or proximity of the approaches of Ukraine and Mongolia to their solution was noted.

Seriousness of our shared aspirations and objectives set to the Governments allows being optimistic about the future of Ukrainian-Mongolian relations."

For his part, the President of Mongolia said the parties are satisfied with the results of the negotiations. "Our bilateral cooperation is moving to a new level. The signed documents have shown that cooperation between Ukraine and Mongolia is expanding," Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj said.

The President of Mongolia expressed confidence that the relations between Mongolia and Ukraine will deepen further. "We can cooperate in many areas, including military, mining, agriculture," he said.
