OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2011. The World Bank has approved the list of 10 Belarusian enterprises that will be privatized in association with foreign consultants, Anna Korniyevich with the State Property Committee of Belarus told reporters on Thursday.

“We have prepared the list of ten enterprises, which will be privatized by the National Investment and Privatization Agency. Only Barkhim has been included from the old list. There are no large companies, and all of them are included in the 2011-2013 privatization plan,” she said.

She said the WB had selected profitable enterprises, as it wanted the first privatization experience of the NIPA to be positive. Korniyevich reminded that USD 5 million were provided from the Austrian Trust Fund to support Belarus’ privatization efforts.

She also said investors were interested in some of the five OJSCs that were not sold in 2010. Talks were underlay over Bobruisk Engineering Plant.

Commenting on privatization plans in 2011, she said investors were most interested in woodworking companies, producers of furniture, construction materials and transport companies.

She believes investors were more interested in privatization opportunities in Belarus because of recent regulatory incentives.
