OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2011. Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, today conducted an educational excursion of Jet Airways’ aircraft maintenance hangar, near the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Santacruz for its young JetPrivilege members aged between 12 to 21 years. JetSpark is a unique initiative by the airline to connect with and build long-term relationships with its young guests between the age group of 2 – 21 years. Through this dedicated forum, Jet Airways plans to engage its young guests through exclusive events, offers and customized promotions, to ensure that the airline emerges as the definitive choice for these future flyers.

JetSpark had hosted a similar event last year for its young JetPrivilege members aged between 12 to 18 years at the hangar.

The young travelers during their half day visit were given an education on the many facets of airline maintenance and operations. The young members were given an opportunity to explore a Boeing 737 aircraft parked in the airline’s hangar. Sixty enthusiastic participants spent hours in admiration of the Boeing 737-700 aircraft, learning and understanding the working of the aircraft. The young guests were also shown the interior of the Jet Airways’ aircraft, cockpit and the cargo hold.

These JetPrivilege members participated in quiz contests and interacted with Jet Airways Flight Engineers and Cabin Crew. They were also shown videos as to how an aircraft is assembled, besides take offs and landings of planes. Later the children were taken for a visit to the engine, structure, brake & wheel and seat shops. Here they also witnessed the actual take offs and landings of various aircraft. Attended by the young JetPrivilege members, the educational excursion by the engineers provided them with rich insights into maintenance and operations.

Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways, said, “JetSpark is truly a one of its kind property created with the specific intention of nurturing a strong bond with our future flyers by being an integral part of their formative years. We are especially happy to offer our young Jet Privilege members this unique opportunity to experience firsthand a comprehensive maintenance operation, which should give them some in-depth understanding of how the airline operates. We expect such fun filled educational exercises to encourage young guests to further explore the fascinating world of aviation.”

Noted Bollywood actor Konkona Sen Sharma interacted with these young guests.

Special gifts from Jet Airways, Reebok, Lindt Chocolates, Amul, Orangina, Qua, Jade, Mickey Mehta's Fitness Academy and Terence Lewis' Dance Academy were handed over to the children.  Refreshments were courtesy Oberoi Flight Services.
