OREANDA-NEWS. July 22, 2011. Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand, a leading provider of ICT business solutions, has recently signed a contract for Data Centre infrastructure and Managed Services support with WA Health, Western Australia’s public health system. The contract, which is based on international best practice, is for Fujitsu to provide high availability, scalable infrastructure, sustainable data centre growth and ICT continuity.

The four year contract (with options to extend) was won after 18 months of planning and follows the 10 year InfoHealth Alliance contract, in which Fujitsu and others, along with WA Health formed an alliance for management of IT services for all Western Australian public hospitals and health services. Fujitsu will deliver a fully localised solution, backed by the strength of its global organisation, using its world-class data centre facilities in Perth and its leading managed services.

Increasing demand for health services and the need to improve healthcare safety and quality is the ongoing focus at WA Health, which employs more than 37,000 staff and provides health services across the state of Western Australia to around 2.3 million people in metropolitan, rural and remote areas. Fujitsu will support WA Health’s centralised ICT infrastructure, enabling the department to deliver optimised patient care across the state.

Robert Lislois, Executive General Manager, Western Australia for Fujitsu, said, “The Managed Services contract with WA Health represents a great opportunity for Fujitsu to contribute to improving the quality of healthcare in Australia’s largest state. It will also help to reinforce Fujitsu’s position as the leading ICT service provider in Perth.”

Fujitsu is also providing relocation and transformation project services that will complement the ongoing support for data centres, servers, storage, network and security devices.

Tim White, Group Executive Director, Managed Services at Fujitsu, said, “Our new flagship Perth data centre has been designed and built from the ground up to offer the most advanced and innovative data centre in the state. Built with sustainability as a key building block, this facility will accommodate WA Health’s initial requirements as well as accommodate plans for future expansion. WA Health represents an important infrastructure support services client for Fujitsu, adding to our growing WA managed services business, which includes end-user computing, remote infrastructure management, network management, ITIL service management and data centre services.”
