OREANDA-NEWS. August 3, 2011. In the country's six basketball arenas TEO LT, AB, the largest provider of integrated telecommunication, IT and television services in Lithuania, will install voice communication lines, which will be used by Lithuanian and foreign television and radio commentators, who will work during the European Basketball Championship EuroBasket 2011.

By means of the communications installed in the basketball arenas in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Panevezys, Siauliai and Alytus, about 50 television and radio commentators from 20 countries will broadcast live to audiences in their countries.

It is planned that TEO revenue for the services provided for TV and radio channels during the Championship will amount to approximately LTL 300 thousand.

According to the recommendations of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), in each Lithuanian basketball arena TEO will install 100 telephone lines, by which duplicated digital ISDN (Digital Subscriber Line Network) or PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) communication can be ensured. It will be possible to use the installed telephone lines for sports and various other events after the Championship as well.

Despite the growing popularity of Internet telephony (VoIP - Voice over IP), most sports commentators usually use the reliable solutions of traditional voice telephony.

TEO specialists will be present in the basketball arenas during all of the Championship games and will ensure continuous service operation and will promptly remove potential problems.

TEO constantly provides various telecommunications services during international and national games taking place in Lithuania. In June TEO and the Local Organizing Committee of EuroBasket 2011 signed an agreement for provision of Internet access, computer network installation, and computer and office equipment rental services.

TEO will install duplicated fiber-optic Internet access in the basketball arenas in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai, Panevezys and Alytus. In the arenas, there will be installed internal computer networks, connecting the workplaces of journalists who will sit close to the playground and the computers of the Championship organizers.

There will be equipped more than 3 thousand workplaces for the Championship organizers and journalists. The total length of installed computer networks will be approximately 200 kilometres. Journalists and the organizers will also have access to wireless Internet in all arenas.
