OREANDA-NEWS. August 5, 2011. Solemn opening of a fish-processing department of Segozersky fish-breeding farm within the Russian Sea Group took place in the settlement of Popov Porog, Segezha region, on July, 28. Valentin Luntsevich, Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia and Minister of Economic Development, Grigory Manuilov, Minister of Agriculture, Fish and Hunting Industry of the Republic of Karelia, Viktor Mudel, Head of the administration of Segezha metropolitan region, Dmitry Dangauer, Director General of the Russian Sea Group, have taken part in the opening cermony.

Construction of the department which area makes about 500 sq.m. was launched in July, 2010. Within a year there appeared a modern enterprise equipped with an automatic technological line installed in view of all sanitary requirements. Modern equipment allows to process up to 5,000 tons of fish a year. Total amount of investments has made 50 million roubles, 20 new jobs were created. Further development of the processing plant makes provision of establishing facilities for deep processing of fish and delivery of fish products. Except for the processing department, there has been built a modern administrative and living building offering good conditions for work and rest of the personnel.

Commissioning of these objects in the settlement of Popov Porog is one of the stages of a large investment project carried out according to the Cooperation Agreement signed by the Head of the Republic Karelia Andrei Nelidov and the Chairman of our Board of Directors of the Russian Sea Group Maxim Vorobiev. The purpose of the Agreement is further development of fish industry in Karelia in the sphere of rearing fish for sale.

In 2011 total amount of investments into development of trout farms of Segozersky Trout-Breeding Farm Ltd. will make more than 300 million roubles. Further expansion of one of the largest fish-breeding farms in the republic is related to development of new fishery sites in reservoirs of Karelia.
