OREANDA-NEWS. August 8, 2011. With a view to improve the standard of living of the physically challenged people of the villages under NALCO’s Utkal-E Coal Project in Angul district of Odisha, NALCO Foundation organized a camp with the help of ALIMCO and VRC, Govt. of India, for handing over specially designed equipment on Thursday in Korada village of Chhendipada block. This initiative has brought smiles on the faces of the differently-abled persons who dream to lead a self-sufficient life.  

As many as 19 differently-abled persons from Nandichhod, Gopinathpur, Korada and Kosala villages were provided with equipment like tri-cycles, roletors, hearing aids and blind sticks. It may be mentioned that these people were identified during an earlier camp held on 2nd June 2011 in Nandichhod village.

On behalf of NALCO, DGMs Shri L. M. Sahoo and Shri G.S. Mohapatra, along with Shri Hemant Behera, Sarpanch, Koroda village distributed the appliances. Shri R. N. Mishra, Marketing Officer, ALIMCO demonstrated the usage of the equipment to the beneficiaries. Shri Ram Kishore Sharma, Rehabilitation Officer, VRC, Dr. P.R. Das, Social Worker and Ms. Shabana Parween, Project Manager, Nalco Foundation were also present at the occasion. Four out the identified differently-abled persons gave their consent to avail vocational training to be provided by VRC at Bhubaneswar.
