OREANDA-NEWS. August 8, 2011. Renowned Water Conservationist and Ramon Magasaysay awardee Shri Rajendra Singh visited the Corporate Office of Nalco, Bhubaneswar today. During his visit, he interacted with Shri B.L. Bagra, CMD, Nalco and other senior officials, stressing on the proper utilization and recycling of water, besides measures to control water pollution. He had also visited company’s Smelter and Power Complex at Angul on Monday last.

Popularly known as 'Jal Purush' or 'The Water Man', Shri Singh has been instrumental in promoting the movement of Water Management, through his NGO Tarun Bharat Sangh, using various innovative techniques. While visiting different facilities of Nalco’s Smelter and Power Complex, he lauded the initiatives taken up by the company towards water conservation and waste water treatment. He visited the Captive Power Plant, Ash Pond, Intake Pump House, Zero Discharge System and Rain Water Harvesting System implemented by Nalco with a view to ensure proper utilization, recycling and conservation of water. While reviewing the Sewage Treatment Plant, the Roof Top Rain Water Harvesting System at Cooling Water Pump House and the newly installed Carbon Dioxide Sequestration System, Shri Singh appreciated Nalco's concern and effort towards conservation of water at all stages of its operation.

Shri Singh also addressed the senior executives of Nalco at Angul. Shri P.R. Choudhury, ED (S&P), Nalco chaired the meeting.
