OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2011. From August 4 to August 7 Second World Children`s Winners’ Games were carried out in Moscow. It was a sport competition for children who had suffered from oncologic diseases.

 More than 300 children from 7 to 16 years old from nine countries of the world: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary, Latvia, Romania, Poland, Check Republic and Turkey participated in the event. Russia was represented by teams of the foundations "Gift of Life" and "Life" and also by teams from the cities of Saint-Petersburg, Irkutsk, Volgograd and Chelyabinsk. There were six sports in the competition: tennis, indoor soccer, shooting, swimming, athletics (run), chess and were designed for contestants with different physical conditions.

The main purpose of the Winners’ Games – socialization of children who had suffered from oncologic diseases, support of the children currently being treated, assertion that cancer is curable and that people return to normal, full-scale life after that. Sport competitions help children who had suffered from such diseases feel equal to children of their age and gain self-confidence. The main thing we managed to announce by these games is that children get cured!
