OREANDA-NEWS. August 15, 2011. Belarus’ foreign commodity trade deficit amounted to USD 4.467 billion in January-June 2011, compared to a USD 3.543 billion deficit in January-June 2010, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Exports rose 62.3% in January-June 2011 year-on-year to USD 18.216 billion, and imports increased 53.6% to USD 22.683 billion.

Exports from Belarus included USD 8.753 billion worth of supplies to CIS states, up 46.5% on the year, including exports to Russia, which stood at USD 6.33 billion, up 43% and to Kazakhstan at USD 283 million, up 26.2%.

Exports to non-CIS countries amounted to USD 9.463 billion as of July 1, 2011, up 80.2% on the year.

Belarusian imports from CIS countries rose 43.3% to USD 12.942 billion, including imports from Russia at USD 11.346 billion, up 40.2% on the year, and from Kazakhstan at USD 85.5 million, up 13.2%.

Imports from non-CIS countries went up 70% on the year to USD 9.742 billion.

The deficit of commodity trade with CIS countries came to USD 4.188 billion, up 36.9% on the year in January-June. The deficit of commodity trade with Russia expanded 36.8% year-on-year in January-June 2011 to USD 5.015 billion. In trade with Kazakhstan, Belarus showed a USD 197.5 million surplus, up 32.7%.

The deficit of foreign trade with countries outside the CIS reached USD 279 million in January-June 2011, down 42.4% from January-June 2010.

The CIS accounted for 53% of Belarus’ trade turnover in January-June 2011, Russia accounted for 43.2%, while non-CIS foreign states are responsible for 47%.
