OREANDA-NEWS. August 15, 2011. Belarus is in negotiations with the Polish company Krajowa Spolka Cukrowa on building a sugar refinery in Belarus. The investment project costs about 350-360 million euros, Ivan Danchenko, Chairman of the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospischeprom, told media.

“We are holding the negotiations. The president of the company visited us yesterday, he met with Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich. We discussed our views and intentions. The government confirmed at the top level that all the conditions and preferences will be available and that all obligations to the Polish side will be fulfilled if they decide to build the refinery,” he said.

Danchenko said the Polish side had held several consultations and surveys in Mogilev Region. Representatives of the Polish company visited four possible locations. They found the one in the Belarusian town of Chausy most attractive for building a sugar refinery there to process 12,000 tonnes of sugar beet per day, said the official.

“We have provided a draft investment agreement. We expect the final decision of the Polish side on August 15. It is up to them to decide now,” Danchenko said.
