OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2011. Roots Corporation, a subsidiary of Indian Hotels, announced the launch of its Smart Basics hotel — Ginger, Tirupur. The hotel is situated at Sre Padminnie Gardens, 16-A4, Kangeyam Road, Tirupur. The 95-room hotel was inaugurated by P Chidambaram, union minister for home affairs and guest of honour, and Nalli Kuppusamy, chairman, Nalli Chinnasamy Chetty, in the presence of Abhijit Mukerji, executive director, hotel operations, Indian Hotels; Prabhat Pani, chief executive officer and director, Roots Corporation, and Veer Vijay Singh, chief operating officer, Vivanta by Taj, Indian Hotels.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mukerji said, "Launching in Tirupur is a significant milestone for Ginger hotels, and it will enable the company to cater to this important business hub that is a nerve centre of the growing economy of the state. We are happy that Ginger is steadily gaining popularity and finding ready acceptance across the country."

Mr Pani also added, "We are delighted to open our first 95-room hotel in the Textile City of India, Tirupur. This is our second hotel in Tamil Nadu after Chennai (Guindy), which we intend to supplement quickly with our third hotel in Tamil Nadu at Vadapalani in Chennai. Tamil Nadu holds tremendous potential for this innovative category of hotels and our initiative will boost the infrastructure in the state. We are grateful for the support we have received from the Tamil Nadu government in helping us launch our second Ginger hotel in the state."

Tirupur is a textile city located on the banks of the river Noyyal. It is known as a 'Small Japan' and 'Dollar City', and is the administrative headquarters of the Tirupur district. The city is a vast generator of employment for skilled and unskilled temporary workers.

Roots Corporation plans further penetration to add to its pan-India presence in the coming months by focusing on major commercial centres such as Bangalore (Koramangala), Faridabad, Jaipur, Greater Noida, Noida, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Chennai (Vadapalani) and Mumbai.

The Ginger hotel at Tirupur is located at Sre Padminnie Gardens, 16-A4, Kangeyam Road. The hotel has smartly-spaced air-conditioned rooms equipped with electronic locks, a work area, and a 22-inch LCD television with satellite channels, direct-dial telephone including STD facility, mini-fridge, tea / coffee maker and posture-pedic mattresses. Other guest facilities at the hotel include a multi-cuisine restaurant, conference room with a capacity of approximately 80 persons, 'safe zone' for security of customer belongings, and 'net zone'. Ginger has also introduced in-room service, where guests can enjoy the dining experience in the comfort of their room.
