OREANDA-NEWS. August 19, 2011. Sberbank of Russia and Deutsche Bank will provide Belarusian OJSC Belaruskali with a USD 2 billion loan against export contracts and on security of 35% in the Belarusian company, Sberbank CEO German Gref sad during his meeting with Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin.

Putin reiterated his request to finance a few projects in Belarus.

“We have decided to extend a USD 2 billion loan to one of the largest Belarusian companies Belaruskali in association with Deutsche Bank. It is a tough spell for Belarus, but the loan is good and sound for us,” Gref said.

The Belarusian authorities earlier said Belaruskali was worth USD 30 billion and announced plans to have an IPO of a minority stake in 18 to 24 months.
