OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2011.  Another 2-day working visit of the International Olympic Committee is accomplished in Sochi.

On day one IOC experts inspected Olympic venues of the Coastal cluster, and especially noted the high tempo of the final stage of the Sochi Olympic Skating Center faзade glass covering.

Moreover, Jean-Claude Killy, the head of the IOC Coordination Commission “Sochi 2014”, and Gilbert Felli, the IOC’s Executive Director for the Olympic Games, took part in installation of the first double glass unit of the Bolshoi Ice Palace. Arena for the ice hockey almost gained its final form. The top part of the roof is assembled. First test events will take place at the Bolshoi Ice Palace in autumn 2012. IOC experts also visited the hotels construction sites.

The second day was devoted to the sites of the Mountain cluster. The IOC team visited sites of the Russian National Sliding Centre, Mountain Olympic Village, Snowboard Park and Freestyle Center, and Ski Jumping Complex.

Jean-Claude Killy, the Chairman of the IOC’s Coordination Commission for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Dmitry Kozak, RF Vice-Premier, Gilbert Felli, the IOC’s Executive Director for the Olympic Games, Dmitry Chernyshenko, the President of Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, and Sergey Gaplikov, the President of SC “Olympstroy” took part in the working visit.

IOC Coordination Commission “Sochi 2014” Chairman Jean-Claude Killy said: “We’ve had a very productive two days here in Sochi and have seen continued progress in the development of the Olympic venues both in the mountain and coastal clusters. I am confident that the athletes will be impressed with the level of the sports venues when they arrive in Sochi for the up-coming test events and the Games in 2014”.
