OREANDA-NEWS. September 02, 2011. Ukio bankas, being the first in Lithuania having started to serve payment cards in self-service terminals, from now on ensures a possibility to pay a local collection fee for entry to Curonian Spit with all Visa and MasterCard scheme cards. Up to now the travellers to Curonian Spit could pay only in cash at Alksnyne control station payment devices or address the cashier of the station, reported the press-centre of Ukio Bankas.

„Ukio bankas has integrated a payment card reader certified in the international organizations MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International into self-service device at Alksnyne control station. It will ensure convenient, safe and reliable payment for entry to all guests, foreign tourists entering Neringa”, – said Jurate Kajackiene, Director of Payment Cards Department of Ukio bankas.

„We are happy that cooperation with Ukio bankas we enable us to offer the guests of Neringa more convenient and modern way to pay the local collection fee at Alksnyne control station. Currently, cards are accepted in one of three ATMs located there. This novelty will make collection easier and will provide a possibility to the guests to pay faster in case they do not have cash. Foreign tourists as well as residents of Kaliningrad region should be especially happy about it”, – said Algimantas Vysniauskas , Director of Neringa Municipality Administration.

From now on, the people coming to Neringa will not have to take care of relevant banknote denominations or to address the cashier of the station in order to pay the local collection fee – they will be able to do it in the self-service device, using any payment card of Visa or MasterCard scheme issued by any Lithuanian or foreign bank. The service is especially relevant to foreign guests coming to Neringa.

Ukio bankas in 2010 was the first in the country having entered into new banking services market ensuring a possibility that had not been offered before in the Lithuanian market – to use a bank card for payments in self-service terminals. The projects were implemented in cooperation with UAB First Data Lietuva specialists.

„Possibilities of this service are very wide and demand for them is constantly growing. We are planning to cooperate with other service providers regarding payment terminals implementation in self- service devices” – said J. Kajackiene.

According to her, self-service devices with electronic card reader allowing to execute payments with payment cards may be used in a very wide scale: for various collections, prepaid telephone cards account supplement, tickets to entertaining events sales, parking lots, utility bills payment and other needs.
