OREANDA-NEWS. September 8, 2011.  Astrakhan Region of Russia proposes to Azerbaijan new areas for cooperation.

Today in Baku Region’s governor Alexander Zhilkin has said that in 2011 trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Astrakhan Region increased 1.5 fold compared to 2010, and the sides intend to increase this figure significantly.

"In 2010 volume of bilateral trade turnover amounted to USD 12 million. According to my estimates, it is going to reach USD 30 million by the end of this year and rise 2.5 fold following the results of 2011," he said.

He pointed out that Astrakhan Region imports machinery, equipment and horticultural production from Azerbaijan and exports machinery and salt.

 "Today we are to consider the matter of repairs of rolling stock (locomotives) in Azerbaijan. Repairs will be carried out at the fully upgraded plant. Therefore, turnover will increase," Zhilkin stressed.
