OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2011. As part of “Competition Day in Russia” in Rostov-on-Don, Stats-Secretary Andrey Tsarikovsky, Deputy Head of FAS Russia had a meeting with representatives of Spain’s National Competition Commission: Clara Guzman, Director of the Investigations Department, and Miguel Angel Martin, advisor to the Commission President, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Andrey Tsarikovsky emphasised significance of representatives of Spain’s National Competition Commission participating in “Competition Day in Russia” for the Federal Antimonopoly Service as 2011 is declared the Year of Russia in Spain and the Year of Spain in Russia.

The Parties discussed prospects for developing Russian-Spanish cooperation in the field of competition policy, in particular, possibility of transition to practical cooperation between the two authorities in terms of joint investigations of violations of the law on competition and control over economic concentration on the cross-border markets.

Also, the Parties discussed a draft Memorandum on Understanding in the field of competition policy between the Federal Antimonopoly Service and Spain’s National Competition Commission, that would encourage advantageous conditions for entrepreneurial activities in Russia and Spain, which would also facilitate expanding trade and economic, and investment relations between the two countries.

Overall, the meeting set the vector for developing Russian – Spanish cooperation in the near future and determined priorities in cooperation between competition authorities in Russia and Spain.
