OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2011. Tata Marcopolo Motors, a JV between Tata Motors and Marcopolo, Brazil, was honoured with Unnatha Suraksha Puraskara for 'Best Safety Performance' in the category 'manufacture / assembly of transport machinery, motor vehicle and construction machinery' awarded by National Safety Council of India – Karnataka Chapter at Safety Awards – 2011 in Bangalore on September 9, 2011.

The Karnataka Chapter is one of 17 chapters of National Safety Council of India. Established in 1971, National Safety Council of India is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Labour, Government of India.

The award was handed over by the chief guest MK Aiyappa, IAS, deputy commissioner and district magistrate, Bengaluru Rural and head, Bangalore Crisis Management Group. Other eminent guests at the ceremony included BS Ramachandra, joint director, Directorate of Factories and Boilers, Karnataka; AS Lakshmanan, chairman, National Safety Council of India, and VA Gundu Rao, joint secretary, National Safety Council of India – Karnataka Chapter.

On the occasion, MSRK Prasad, head, human resources, briefed about Tata Marcopolo and its best safety practices in the plant to all participants.
