OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2011. During the negotiations there were discussed the questions of mutually beneficial cooperation between the State Association “Belarusian railway” and JSC “Deutsche Bahn AG” in the field of cargo and passenger transportation.

The heads of the Belarusian and German railway administrations defined the priority directions of further cooperation in the area of cargo transportation that include the preserving of the existing routes of components transportation of the leading European trusts in/from Kaluga and also the organization of the new traffic container projects by the accelerated block trains.

The main direction of the Belarusian railway in the field of passengers’ transportation is further development of the quality and accessibility of assignable service. This issue is very urgent in account with in the near future conduction of world-level sport events in Belarus and Russia that will increase the volume of passenger traffic from European countries. Proceeding from the negotiations, it was offered by the Belarusian side to the German railway administration to consider the possibility of the joint organization of transfer connection Brest-Berlin-Brest with the usage of DB AG rail transport.

German colleagues expressed the interest in more closed relations with Belarusian railwaymen and offered the Belarusian railway to take part in a new action of European Commission including cooperation at EU external borders. The head of the Belarusian railway supported the initiative and expressed the hope about constant cooperation.

As a result of the negotiations the Head of the Belarusian railway Anatoly Sivak and Chairman of the Management Board of Deutsche Bahn AG Dr. Rüdiger Grube signed the joint protocol. The parties agreed that the next negotiations at the heads’ level of German and Belarusian railway administrations will take place in 2012.
