OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2011. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company has joined other partners of Sochi 2014 who signed the Memorandum on Cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection within the initiatives framework of the Organizing Committee of Sochi 2014 on Sustainable Development. The signing ceremony was attended by the President of the Organizing Committee of Sochi 2014 Dmitry Chernyshenko and General Director of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company Alexander Grigoriev.

The memorandum consolidates the willingness of partner companies of Sochi 2014 to follow the principles of environmental liability and environmental protection, both during implementation of the Olympic projects, and within the core business of the companies. Its main task is to emphasize the importance of nature conservation during preparation and holding of the Games and to develop new environmental standards - a heritage for future generations. In accordance with the Memorandum, the parties will cooperate in four key areas of Sochi 2014 environmental strategy: Games in Harmony with Nature, Games without Climate Change, Games without Waste, Enlightenment Games.

According to Alexander Grigoriev, the General Director of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, Ingosstrakh shares the idea of making use of the best international experience in introduction of green standards into all areas of the Games preparation, as well as into its activities. As a part of events, related to the memorandum signing, the company has established the eco-office in Sochi. The Green office of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company is equipped in accordance with international environmental standards. It is fitted with cost-effective fluorescent and LED lighting, system of automatic electric power control, capability to adjust the heat supply, controlled water flow, system of separate waste collection. Environmentally-friendly materials were used in the office finish, noted Alexander Grigoriev.

According to the document, the parties share a common responsibility for limitation of the negative impact of economic and other activities on the environment and ensuring the protection and rational use of natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations.

“The signed Memorandum is intended to join efforts of partners and organizers of the Games-2014 for promoting the ideas of environmental conservation and development of ecological culture,” comments Dmitry Chernyshenko, the president of the Organizing Committee of Sochi 2014. “One of the tasks is conservation of the unique nature of Sochi during arranging and conducting the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in 2014. We also want to draw attention to environmental issues, environmental protection, raise society awareness on these issues and talk about the responsibility of every person who can make his strong contribution to the welfare of our planet”
