OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2011. Embankment construction is in progress close to the Olympic Park. Promenade terraces, ramps, and beach zone up to 50 m width will be built.

But the main purpose of the facility is not aesthetic, but practical: the embankment will become a part of the coast-protecting structure – sort of a reinforced concrete shield which will protect the coast from storm waves.

Coast-protecting works are done by stages in order not to interfere to the recreation near the sea. Construction works started with the assembly of the thrust ring of 4 km length.

At the moment beach side is strengthened by precast-concrete waterproof units that will provide wave-cut. 21160 units will be installed at the length of 4 km.

On the whole engineering coast protection will be done at the length of 6 km. By the end of the current year it is planned to complete coast protection works. Developer of the project is SC "Olympstroy".
