OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2011. Engineering and construction of a bridge in the city of Lankaran within the framework of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) project of Masalli-Astara motorway reconstruction does not demand raising of extra financial resources.

The Baku-based ADB resident office informs that money for financing this work have been reserved in the first two loans disbursed for the first stage (Section A) of the highway reconstruction.

“The finances of the two loans (approximately USD 200 million) will be enough for financing of both Section A and the bridge in Lankaran,” the ADB office said.

The contractor for Section A has been already selected. At that, the project customer, Transport Ministry’s company Azeryolservis (AzerRoadService) is to accept bids for bridge engineering and construction till 5 pm on 16 November 2011.

There are strict requirements for bidders. Bidder’s construction turnover for last 5 years must be at least USD 30 million and financial assets at least USD 6 million. Over the last 5 years the bidder should have at least 2 contracts worth at least USD 22 million each. During the same period the bidder is required to have production figures as follows: driving-in of at least 2,000 m of piles a year, construction of at least 1,000 m of solid concrete bridges and at least 5,000 m of reinforced concrete structures.

Over the last 2 years the bidder is required to build at least two bridges and at least 10 km of 4-lane highways.
