OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2011. About 400 representatives of Russian oil and gas companies took part in the Tyumen international innovation forum NeftGazTEK-2011 held on September 20–21, the general partner of which was TNK-BP. The forum was organized by the Government of the Tyumen Region and TNK-BP, who created a unique venue for exchange of experience and discussion of innovations related to fuel and energy.

The forum was participated by Vladimir Yakushev, Governor of the Tyumen Region; Gennady Shmal, President of the Union of Oil & Gas Producers of Russia; and Alexei Varlamov, General Director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Geology. The plenary session of the forum was dedicated to the state of geological exploration in Russia, enhancement of oil recovery, and innovations in education. The issues discussed included creation of territorial innovation clusters, rational use and management of natural resources, construction of infrastructure in fields, transportation of oil and gas, and innovative education and training in the field of fuel and energy.

Tyumen Region Governor Vladimir Yakushev called the forum “a venue for presentation of results and innovations, without which efficient development of companies and the entire oil and gas industry is impossible.” Oleg Chemezov, Vice President of OJSC TNK-BP Management, said that “the forum is an excellent opportunity to see and hear more new ideas. We are sure that there is no success without innovations. Some of them have a long way to go, but new technologies always pay off and eventually lead to economic benefits.”

Alexander Timchuk, Deputy General Director for Research of the Tyumen Petroleum Research Center, noted: “Many of the fields being developed now are complex and difficult, and their development is impossible without modern technologies and latest methods. At this forum, we were able to tell you about our success in implementation of the Uvat project.”
