OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2011. A delegation of committees on art of regions of Oulu and Lapland led by secretaries general Ulla Lassila and Tomi Aho is visiting Petrozavodsk on September 19 - 24 within the scope of opening The Finnish Paradox exhibition. The delegation comprises heads of unions of artists of Finland, experts in project activity in the field of visual art.

On September, 21 the delegation has met Minister of Culture of the Republic of Karelia Elena Bogdanova. During the meeting the parties have discussed the forthcoming Days of Culture of Northern Finland (Oulu and Lapland) in Karelia in 2012 and Days of Karelian Culture in Finland in 2013. Various cultural events have been planned including art exhibitions, a concert of Finnish soloist with Symphonic Orchestra of the Karelian State Philarmonic Society, joint concerts of jazz bands, a seminar on issues of extended education, Days of Literature, etc.

Ulla Lassila has thanked Kantele State Ensemble of Dance and Song and Ministry of Culture of the RK for excellent organization of the concert that took place with great success within the scope of Days of the City of Oulu on September, 3. Further the opportunity for Kantele to perform during folk festivals Haapavesi-Folk and Jytajaiset in Northern Finland will be considered.

During the visit the delegation carries on negotiations with the management of Kantele ensemble, National Theatre of the RK, Karelian State Philarmonic Society, Museum of Fine Arts of the RK and the Center of Cultural Initiatives. Representatives of unions of artists will visit workshops of Karelian artists, children's schools of arts, will meet representatives of Karelian regional branch of the Union of Artists of Russia.
