OREANDA-NEWS. October 4, 2011. Fujitsu today announced that, as part of the Green IT Awards 2011 granted by Japan's Green IT Promotion Council, it has received the Review Board Special Award in the category of "Savings in Society's Energy Consumption by IT" for its EcoCALC eco-contribution estimation web tool.
About the Green IT Award

The Green IT Award was established to honor the development and application of IT equipment, services and solutions that reduce energy consumption, with the aim of increasing the prevalence of eco-friendly green IT and bringing about a society that both preserves the environment and achieves economic growth.
Product Recognition

The EcoCALC eco-contribution estimation web tool quantitatively evaluates the reduction of burden on the environment achieved through the use of ICT by comparing CO2 emissions levels before and after deployment.

With this tool, businesses can calculate how much CO2 will be reduced through ICT from factors including the consumption of materials, the movement of people and materials, office space, warehouse space, power consumption by ICT equipment, and volume of data communications.

The Green IT Award recognized the innovation and originality of the tool, which leverages ICT to make CO2 reductions visible, in addition to Fujitsu's proactive usage of the tool in customer proposals.
