OREANDA-NEWS. October 31, 2011. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fish and Hunting Industry of the Republic of Karelia together with the Ministry Agriculture and Forestry of Finland have held a meeting on this year's results of implementation of joint Russian-Finnish projects The Concept of Consultating in Agriculture and its Organization in the Northwest of Russia in 2011-2013 and Business in the Countryside within the Territory of the Republic of Karelia and Murmansk Area.

Minister of Agriculture, Fish and Hunting Industry of the Republic of Karelia Grigory Manuilov and the main expert of the Ministry Agriculture and Forestry of Finland N.Helstrom presided over the meeting.

The international project Business in the Countryside within the Territory of the Republic of Karelia and Murmansk Area was implemented in the following spheres:

High-technology growing of fruit and berry crops.

Business in the field of tourist hunting organization.

Development of guest fishing. Organization of amateur and sports fishing.

All the seminars were held on the basis of the Agriculture, Fish and Hunting Industry of the Republic of Karelia.

In August twenty Karelian businessmen have visited five farms and familiarized with experience of growing strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, currants and their saplings. Finnish farmers have told about technologies of storage, processing of berries, have shown means of mechanization used in Finland.

The similar fact-finding trip of Karelian hunters and businessmen developing hunting and fishing took place in September to Kajani (Finland) in directions of organization of hunting, amateur and sports fishing in the neighbouring country.

A master-class on milking operation technology was held on the basis of Janishpole Joint-Stock Company within the scope of implementation of the project The Concept of Consultating in Agriculture and its Organization in the Northwest of Russia in 2011-2013. A seminar on the subject of Growing and preselling preparation of potatoes is scheduled for November.

Participants of the final meeting have pointed out that the work condusted is of utility as a whole and should be continued in the future. For 2012 the parties have planned to hold a number of seminars and master classes within the scope of existing projects where issues the most interesting to Karelian farmers and businessmen will be considered.
