OREANDA-NEWS. November 22, 2011. Conference on the theme "New media: staffing & professionalism" has been held in Baku today.

The even was arranged by the Multimedia Centre jointly with the US-Azerbaijani Media Development Fund.

Centre’s director Osman Gunduz has said that with IT development a new type of media functioning in the Internet has appeared in the country.

"This has contributed to appearance of such new professions, work and official positions as online director, online editor, etc. For further development of this type of media it is required training of professional personnel as currently operating journalism faculties release staff who should receive additional training for work in new kinds of media, such as radio, television, news site, etc," he emphasized.

According to Gunduz, one should also improve the regulatory framework in this area to ensure the rights of the media relating to this category, attract available professionals to teach in high schools with journalism faculties for preparation of ready-to-work personnel, which in turn will train the next generation of students to choose this direction of activity.

"We need to develop a new model of education meeting the requirements of the media market, improve the standards of higher education, develop online and offline resource base of universities, create lab studios of Internet TV and radio to develop practical skills of students," presented his recommendations Gunduz.
