OREANDA-NEWS. On December 27, 2011 in Sevastopol, the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko has solemnly opened the reconstructed substation "Simferopol" and "Sevastopol" and the upgraded air-line of an electricity transmission "Simferopol-Sevastopol", which transferred to voltage 330 kV.

During the start of substations, Yuriy Boyko welcomed colleagues on the completion of the project and thanked all who were involved in the construction and commissioning of new energy facilities.

"I am very pleased that power engineering specialists have given such beautiful gift and I am grateful all who took part in this. I believe that today's objects - station and line - are a key to the reliable development of the Crimean region and Sevastopol, all residents who live here. I hope that they will have jobs and they will receive investment. I congratulate all of you on this occasion," he stressed.

The Minister underlined that the transfer to 330 kV transmission line Simferopol-Sevastopol with the reconstruction and expansion of substations "Simferopol" and "Sevastopol" would improve the reliability of energy supply for consumers in the Crimea.

"It's hard to overestimate the importance of the start of today's object because this object makes it possible to be developed the economy of Crimea, to attract investments, to perform reliable energy supply. So to do all the tasks that put the country's leadership and management the Autonomy to their region," Yuriy Boyko said.

The Minister added that in the Crimea, systematically work is underway with the reconstruction grid according to the tasks which have been set out in May 2010 during the visit of the First vice Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev to the Autonomy.

"Today we do not stop at the starting of this object, we continue to work on introduction of electric high-voltage lines throughout all territory of Southern coast. This can be considered as the foundation of reliable energy supply, the foundation of the future ring. And we will continue this work and further," Yuriy Boyko underlined.

Thus, he noted that the project implementation can increase the capacity of electrical connections of the continental Ukraine - Crimea by 100 MW, which would ensure the development of recreational, industrial and utility sector of the economy of the ARC for 10-15 years.
