OREANDA-NEWS. January 10, 2012. ESTA Group is in its final stage of development of the Kyiv TSUM reconstruction concept. Under the reconstruction programme TSUM shopping space will be expanded through the more efficient use of the courtyard. The facade of TSUM built in 1939 will remain intact.

"TSUM is a recognisable landmark both for Kyiv and entire Ukraine, so it was important for us to keep the heritage and recover the prestige and glory of the building," stated Maksim Gromadtsov, Investment Director of ESTA Holding, the managing company of the ESTA Group. "To develop the TSUM concept we have engaged global consulting firms."

A well-known English architectural company Benoy was invited to design the reconstruction of the upper part of the building. The company is closely cooperating with leading Kyiv architects.

"We are confident that international experience, modern technologies and deep knowledge of the local environment will allow us to design the project, which will become a symbol of pride for all Kyiv citizens," stated Mr Gromadsov.

TSUM will remain a department store and keep its original name. The new TSUM brand style is being developed by an international brand company Landor, whose leading specialists have been studying local traditions, culture and habits for several months to find the solution, which will suit both the residents and guests of the city. There were carried out several social and marketing public opinion surveys.

The reconstruction is scheduled for February 2012 after the lease agreements expire. The new concept of TSUM will be presented to the public at the end of January after its final approval.
