OREANDA-NEWS. January 10, 2012. Cargo volume handled by OJSC Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port (KMTP) in 2011 increased by 18% year-on-year to 3,618,000 tons, the company said.

Shipments of ferrous metals rose by 4.6% from a year before to 1.3 million tons, oil products exports grew by 19.9% to 538,000 tons, while handling of coal and coke dropped 15.1% to 170.200 tons, scrap metal exports increased by 25.6% to 171,300 tons.

Container traffic surged by as much as 2.5 times to 164,156 TEUs.

OJSC Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port is a stevedore operating at the Port of Kaliningrad. The port is a gateway for intermodal traffic and major exports / imports passing through the region. In 2010, cargo throughput of KMTP rose by 1.4 times year-over-year to 3,640,700 tons.
