OREANDA-NEWS.  January 12, 2012. The volume of cargo handled by JSC Vostochny Port in 2011 grew by 12% year-on-year, to 16,498,300 tons, the stevedore company reported.

The port’s traffic growth was driven by coal, which accounts for 98% (16,194,900 tons) of freight handled at Vostochny Port. In the reporting period, Specialized Coal Terminal exported 13,493,600 tons, up13% from 2010’s figure. Shipments of different cargoes from Universal Terminal rose 7 percent to 3 million 4.7 thousand tons.

Vostochny Port JSC is the largest stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating in the port of Vostochny. The company specializes in handling of coal using the conveyor equipment . The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal and Universal Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. The company owns a fleet of harbor tugs, capable of mooring 150,000dwt ships. In 2010, the stevedore handled 14,700,300 tons (+1% yoy), with Universal Handling Terminal’s throughput, which rose by 21% year-over-year to 2,802,600 tons.
