OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2012. Avlita handled 865,000 tonnes of grain in its grain terminal during the first six months of 2011-12 marketing year (July-December 2011), a 48% or a 279,000 tonne increase on the same period last year.

In 2011 Avlita's deepwater berth 21 accommodated a total of 44 grain vessels, which carried 1.035 million tonnes of grain, a 5.8% growth compared with 2010. In particular, the company transhipped 420,800 tonnes of wheat (646,400 tonnes in 2010, a drop of 35%), 346,800 tonnes of barley (302,000 tonnes in 2010, a 14% growth), 255,200 tonnes of corn (29,000 tonnes in 2010, a 780% gain), and 12,700 tonnes of sunflower seed (no exports in 2010).

"We are certainly happy with the second half 2011 results, where Avlita accounted for 9% of the grain exports via Ukrainian ports. But we are not going to settle. In 2012 we plan to raise grain transhipment by 75% to 1.8m tonnes," stated Sergey Posokhov, acting CEO of Avlita.
