OREANDA-NEWS.  February 17, 2012. Amur Shipbuilding Plant marked today February 17 another milestone in its history laying the keel at its assembly and welding workshop of Steregushchiy class corvette of Project 20380 named Gromkiy, the shipbuilder’s press office said.

The multipurpose patrol ship "Gromkiy" is intended to combat surface ships, submarines, to provide air defense and artillery support for the landing and amphibious operations.

JSC Amur Shipbuilding Plant (Amur Shipyard) based in Komsomolsk-on-Amur is the largest shipyard in the Far East, created in 1936. Since 2009, the company has been part of United Shipbuilding Corporation. Throughout its history the shipyard has built 270 vessels, including 56 submarines, 41 diesel-electric submarines, 36 surface warships, 137 civilian vessels of different class and purpose.
