OREANDA-NEWS. March 07, 2012. Fujitsu today announces global availability of the next generation PRIMERGY dual-socket x86 servers, designed to set a new standard in versatility, scalability and cost-efficiency. Meeting a wide range of tomorrow’s IT demands while achieving a fast return-on-investment today, the comprehensive new line-up of servers deliver a leap forward in performance and modularity.

Business benefits
Fujitsu’s new concept of a modular chassis design for its PRIMERGY server line-up creates a highly customisable server platform that allows customers to configure systems freely to meet their current IT needs, and extend later if required. By supporting General-Purpose computing on Graphics Processing Unit (GPGPU) cards and faster data throughput, the versatile new PRIMERGY servers are suitable for almost any business application or data centre scenario. Customers choosing PRIMERGY are also assured of investment protection over the server lifecycle. The new models provide 100 percent additional memory capacity and space for an additional 33 percent hard disks. After-sale server expansion kits are available should server configuration needs change.

Simple administration with Fujitsu ServerView Virtual I/O Manager
Fujitsu’s innovative ServerView Virtual I/O Manager ensures an ease of administration and also provides network-agnostic virtualisation in dynamic data centre scenarios. On-the-fly roaming, adding and recovering virtual server profiles is now supported, and the time and effort required to redeploy images is reduced from hours to minutes.

The third generation of Fujitsu’s ServerView Virtual I/O Manager is available for all new PRIMERGY dual socket servers. Simplified power management features combined with 94 percent efficient modular power supply units further enable businesses to reduce server energy costs by up to 73% in comparison to the previous generation.

Performance improvements
Overall performance improvements for new PRIMERGY dual socket server models of up to 70 per cent are achieved with the help of the latest Intel® Xeon® processor E5 family. In the field of high performance computing, system performance climbs by 120 per cent, using Intel’s new Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX).1

The line-up
Available as tower, rack and blade models, the new line-up of Fujitsu PRIMERGY dual-socket servers includes:
The no-compromise economy tower server PRIMERGY TX300 S7
Maximum productivity in a 1U housing with the PRIMERGY RX200 S7 rack server
The versatile PRIMERGY RX300 S7 rack server
