OREANDA-NEWS. March 07, 2012. In January 2012 AeroSvit increased (in comparison with the same month last year) its passenger traffic and revenues and optimized the operational cost by means of decreasing the quantity of flights.

In January of the current year the Airlines’ passenger carriages traffic grew by 23% compared to the similar period of 2011 – up to 206 000 passengers. The quantity of flights performed by AeroSvit decreased by 5% – to 2566. At the same time, the company increased load factor on its scheduled flights from 67% in January 2011 up to 71,1% in January of the current year (4.1 percentage points growth).

Passenger turnover carried by AeroSvit (calculated as the product of the quantity of passengers and the distance traveled) grew by 22% up to 512 mln passenger-kilometers.

Passenger traffic flow growth in the first month of 2012 caused increase of the Airlines’ revenue by 22% (compared to the similar period of the previous year) – up to USD 46.5 mln. 

Simultaneously AeroSvit optimized the cost of flight program support by means of planned decrease in its own flights intensity, taking into consideration the seasonal demand decline on some of the routes. At the same time, owing to cooperation with partner carriers, AeroSvit adhered to the flight frequency offered to the passengers on jointly operated lines.

AeroSvit - Ukrainian Airlines, established in 1994, is based at Boryspil Airport (Kyiv). AeroSvit operates 80 international routes to 34 countries, provides passenger carriages to Ukraine’s largest administrative centers. AeroSvit operates the fleet of 8 long-haul Boeing 767 aircraft and 19 medium-haul Boeing 737 and also uses partner carriers’ Airbus 320, Airbus 321, Embraer 145 and Embraer 195 aircraft. In 2012 the company will commence updating the fleet with Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft and, starting from 2013, with Boeing 737-900ER.

AeroSvit has been a member of International Air Transport Association since 1996. In January 2006 the carrier was included into the register of IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit). In 2011 the airline yet again was successfully audited in accordance with IOSA program and prolonged its IOSA operator’s certificate for the period of two subsequent years.
