OREANDA-NEWS. March 15, 2012. Quality maintenance of domestic goods is a priority of the Cabinet. For the first time in the last decade, the Government allocated 1.7 million UAH for independent examination of the quality and safety of goods, raw materials, intermediate products last year. Consumer protection the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has taken under control. This was started by the chairman of the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection Sergiy Orekhov at a briefing at Government Building.

According to him last year were tested goods and services worth over 679 million UAH. In particular, the experts monitored:

- more than 3,563 tons of food, 35% of which were rejected and removed from selling through expired shelf life, lack of supporting documents or non-compliance with regulatory requirements documentation;

- about 3.8 million units of non-food products, of which 2.5 million units or 65% of tested amount were removed from sale.

By the results of inspections over 35.000 people was hold to administrative responsibility, which were imposed administrative penalties totaling over 5.7 million UAH. Enterprises where were found violations were fined in the amount of 181 million UAH. During last year regional offices of the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection received over 28,000 written complaints of consumers, in addition, nearly 11,000 complaints received at personal usage.
