OREANDA-NEWS. March 15, 2012. Fortune magazine published 2012 World Most Admired Companies, an authoritative report representing business reputation in the world. Baosteel ranks No. 25 in the Asia-Pacific Region, compared with No. 32 in 2011. It won again one of the most admired companies in metal industry, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

As one of the most reputed lists by Fortune, World Most Admired Companies is rated once a year, and published in fortunechina.com in China at the same time. The most Admired companies of various industries were rated by professional judges made up of nearly 5000 senior management, directors and analysts based on 9 criteria including investment value and social responsibility. The 50 most Admired companies overall were chosen by senior management, directors and analysts from various industries.  

This year, Apple, Google and Amazon rank the first, second and third place respectively in the world most Admired companies (overall). In the industries world most admired companies, there are only 3 Chinese companies, from 3 different industries respectively. They are China National Offshore Oil (mining, crude oil production), Baosteel Group (metals) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (semi-conductor).

Besides, 102 companies in total entered competition for Asia-Pacific Region. Among them, 37 Chinese companies of 18 industries participated in the rating, 12 ones in total were included in the top 50 for Asia-Pacific Region, among them 8 were from mainland China, and 4 from Taiwan. Huawei Technologies (ranks No. 8) and China Mobile Communications (ranks No. 9) are within the top 10.

Other most admired companies in metals 2012 are: Alcoa, ArcelorMittal, POSCO, Nippon Steel, ThyssenKrupp, Nucor and Tata Steel.
