OREANDA-NEWS. March 26, 2012. Belarus plans to suspend supplies of powdered milk to Russia starting from April 1, the press office of Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

Belarus is going to suspend exports of powdered milk to Russia in accordance with balances for milk and dairy products, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Mikhail Rusy said, as cited in a statement.

Rusy also said that supplies would be resumed on the part of a mutual agreement.

Moreover, the Belarusian party is not to reduce its commitments regarding the recommended base prices for dairy products on the Russian market until the end of 2012, Rusy said.

Every two weeks, representatives from the agriculture ministries of the both countries along with Russia’s National Dairy Producers Union are expected to agree upon recommended base prices for the Russian market and provide monitored results of supply and demand for milk and dairy products in 2012 on the territory of the two countries.

On February 22, Russia’s Agriculture Ministry said that Belarus was ready to increase its indicative prices and reconsider the volumes of dairy products to prevent dumping and excessive supply on the Russian market.
