OREANDA-NEWS. March 27, 2012. The representatives of OJSC "Perm Engine Company" took part in the second Lean-school of the Corporative university of OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM", which was held in OJSC "SPA "Saturn" (Rybinsk).  The work of the school, which had united representatives of 17 different enterprises, comprising United Engine Building Corporation and "Russian Helicopters", was headed by Andrey Reus, OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM" CEO and Dmitry Petrov, OJSC "Russian Helicopters" CEO.

The subject of Lean -school - "Development of lean production system at the holding's enterprises" - and its concept were determined in terms of objectives and tasks, set by OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM" leaders. The key tasks were generating uniform corporative standard - a kind of road map for implementing lean-production technologies at those enterprises, where this system hadn't been yet active, and also development of the recommendations for improvement production and technological processes of SPA ‘Saturn" in the framework of realization the program of batch production  of Russian-French aircraft engine  SaM146. According to the organizers' intention this school was not just to train employees, but to reveal new ideas and suggestions, which could be used for further improvement of the production programs of "OBORONPROM" corporation.

In particular, realizing SaM146 program, till the end of 2012 OJSC "SPA "Saturn" is targeted at providing continuous batch production of engines, at least 8 units per month (up to 100 engines per year), which means almost total workload of the enterprise capacities. The participants of Lean-school were suggested to give their own opinion on that problem and consider how to accomplish this task most effectively, increasing the output of production lines and labor efficiency and decreasing costs.

To meet this target all the participants of the school were randomly divided into 6 teams. Within the first two days of work each group ran detailed diagnostics of the production site, pointed by SPA "Saturn", and formed some practical recommendations, aimed at drawing SPA activity to the ideal process of creating of material assets.  The best project was determined during summarizing discussion on the basis of general interviewing of Lean-school participants. One of the authors of this interviewing chart was Igor Berezin, a deputy chief shop manager of 34th shop. The team-winner got valuable prizes from the Corporative university of OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM".

Summarizing the results of the project discussion, Andrey Reus, OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM" CEO emphasized: "Development of lean-production is one of the key tasks of the corporation, and it is necessary to accomplish to attain a competitive position at the market. We should create such a form of production that will be not just as good as those of the leading world companies, but a form that will surpass them".

The third day of the summit, held in the form of project-analytical workshop was devoted to the determination of the basic principles of the uniform corporative standard of development of production systems of the enterprises of "UEBC" and "Russian Helicopters". The suggestions of "Perm Engine Company" representatives were highly appreciated by OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM" leaders, and thus they will become a basis for the general conception of implementing lean-technologies at the engine and helicopter building facilities.

At the end of Lean-school work the Corporative university of OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM" handed certificates "Corporative Lean-leader" to the managers and the best specialists in the field of implementation of lean-technologies, thereby estimating their professional effort.  At once two representatives of "Perm Engine Company" got these personal certificates: Eva Lubimova, a manager of Department of Development of Production systems, and Anton Kuznetsov, a Deputy Chief Inspector.

Sergey Nikiforov, Director of Development of Production Systems, "Perm Engine Company":

- The lean-school held has achieved its goals. Within three days of its activities all the participants - the representatives of different enterprises of the corporation - managed to study "SPA "Saturn" work comprehensively and create the whole complex of measures, which would be used in the general plan of improvement of efficiency of batch production of aircraft engines SaM-146. We have elaborated our suggestions concerning generating of the uniform standard of implementation of lean-technologies at the enterprises of the corporation and presented them to OJSC "UIC "OBORONPROM" leaders.  First of all, our suggestions are associated with the integration of the processes of production system development and attaining strategic goals of the enterprises. They also concern forming new type of a manager, using lean-tools actively to organize the production process.

The form of a practical appliance of lean-technologies for improvement of the production processes of the specific enterprise has proved its efficiency. And we should use this positive experience at "Perm Engine Company" to train our personnel pool - those people, who will organize and develop the production in the nearest future.
