OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2012. Power Machines OJSC and Risk Engineering Ltd (Bulgaria) have entered into a contract to supply power generating equipment to Sofia thermal power plant.

Under the terms of the contract Power Machines are to manufacture and supply a 35 MW steam turbine complete with a turbogenerator and auxiliary equipment for the plant’s fifth power unit. Moreover, the St. Petersburg power engineering company’s responsibilities include supervision services during installation of the equipment supplied and training of the plant’s operating staff. The deliveries completion date is scheduled for Q3 2013.

The equipment replacement at the fifth power unit of Sofia TPP makes it possible to increase its capacity from 25 MW to 35 MW.

This project is a successful continuation of the cooperation between the companies. Earlier, in 2010, Power Machines manufactured, delivered and supervised the installation of two 220 MW turbogenerators within the project for the renewal of two units at Maritza-East-2 TPP under a contract signed with the Bulgarian customer.
