OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2012. Tata Power’s Haldia power plant has consistently organised initiatives for the wellbeing of its communities and has undertaken strong interventions in improving healthcare of people around its area of operation.

As part of its healthcare drive, the Haldia team recently organised a free eye check-up camp for underprivileged school students. The camp was organised in collaboration with the Vivekananda Mission Ashram Netra Niramay Niketan, Haldia. In this drive, around 130 students were treated and free spectacles were also provided to the ones who needed them.

Speaking about this initiative, Vijayant Ranjan, station head, Haldia power plant, said, “The positive feedback from the communities who benefitted from this programme last year triggered us to organise this for school students. It is also our endeavour to improve the education level of these students, and healthy eyes would help students focus on studies. We will continue to support and undertake such initiatives that will cater to the health needs of the surrounding communities and improve their quality of life.”

The Haldia team reached out to more than 600 needy people through initiatives which included distribution of free spectacles to more than 250 aged people at its eight eye check-up camps held last year. The initiatives were well received and benefitted the community, especially the aged people living in the surrounding communities.
